Hacienda Alsacia Starbucks Coffee Farm

Hacienda Alsacia – Starbucks Coffee Farm is located on the slopes of the Poás Volcano, Hacienda Alsacia is the only coffee farm owned by Starbucks in the world. It offers an immersive experience where you can learn about the coffee-making process from seed to cup, all surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. You can also enjoy a café with valley views and sample freshly roasted coffee.
How to get there from San José:
The drive takes approximately 45 minutes. Take Route 1 toward Alajuela, then follow the signs to Poás via Route 130. Hacienda Alsacia is well-marked and has parking available.
Las Cataratas de La Paz

Las Cataratas de La Paz is one of the most stunning destinations near San José. Surrounded by tropical rainforest, it offers spectacular views of multiple waterfalls connected by walking trails. The property also features a rescued wildlife sanctuary and butterfly gardens.
How to get there from San José:
The drive takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Take Route 126 toward Vara Blanca, passing through scenic mountain landscapes and lush greenery. It’s a perfect day trip to experience nature without straying too far from the city.
Parque Nacional Volcán Poás

El Volcán Poás is one of Costa Rica’s most accessible and active volcanoes, renowned for its massive crater and striking turquoise lagoon. The park offers visitors a unique opportunity to witness volcanic activity up close, along with exploring short trails through cloud forests.
How to get there from San José:
The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Take Route 1 toward Alajuela and then follow the signs to the national park. It's recommended to visit early in the morning for the best chance to see the crater clearly before clouds roll in.

El Volcán Arenal

El Volcán Arenal is one of the most famous and active volcanoes in Costa Rica, located in the province of Alajuela near the town of La Fortuna. Arenal offers spectacular views and a variety of activities for nature and adventure lovers.
How to get there from San José:
Volcán Arenal is approximately a 3-hour drive from San José. Take Route 1 (Interamericana) north, passing through San Ramón, and then continue on Route 142 to La Fortuna.
